A SECOND case of coronavirus has been confirmed at Preston Tower Primary School.

NHS Lothian has sent information out to parents of youngsters at the school in Prestonpans.

The message notes: "There has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within Preston Tower Primary School.

"A detailed risk assessment has been carried out by the school and health protection to identify any close contacts.

"The school remains open and if your young person has not been contacted then they should continue to attend school if they remain well."

It is the second time that someone connected with the school has tested positive.

Last month, it was confirmed a pupil at the school had tested positive but no details were given in terms of the child's age or what class they were in.

Earlier this week, positive tests were also recorded at Haddington's Knox Academy and Preston Lodge High School, in Prestonpans.

The latest message from NHS Lothian also outlines what to do if a child does develop symptoms for Covid-19.

Youngsters are advised "they must not come to school" and: "They should stay at home from when their symptoms started, self-isolate, and get tested for Covid-19."

Symptoms of Covid-19 include a new continuous cough; and/or a high temperature; and/or a loss of, or change in, taste or smell (anosmia).
