A 47-YEAR-OLD man has died following a road crash in the county.

A black Ford Fiesta and a silver Audi A4 were involved in a collision on the A198 near Dirleton at about 12.45pm today.

The 47-year-old who tragically died was the sole occupant of the Audi. His next of kin have been informed.

The 25-year-old male driver of the Fiesta was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with non-life threatening injuries.

The A198 remains closed between Station Road, Dirleton and North Berwick to allow for an investigation.

A diversion through the centre of Dirleton is in place for vehicles.

Sergeant Jennifer Forbes of Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this sad time.

"We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and would urge anyone who may have information to come forward.

"This includes anyone who was driving in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage which could help.

"Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1444 of 4 June."
