FIVE people were hospitalised after a three-car crash near Wallyford yesterday (Monday) involving a Lamborghini, which saw the road closed for over five hours.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened at about 2.40pm on on the A6094 between Wallyford and Dalkeith.

A grey-coloured Lamborghini Gallardo, a maroon-coloured Ford Focus and a green Ford Fiesta were all involved in the crash and anyone who saw the cars before the crash is now being asked to come forward.

The Lamborghini had been travelling eastbound on the A1 and exited at the Wallyford Junction before continuing on the A6094 heading towards Whitecraig.

Meanwhile, the Ford Focus, followed by the Ford Fiesta, was travelling in the opposite direction from the Whitecraig area.

The cars collided near to the Carberry Roundabout (see map below, highlighting Carberry Roundabout and the eastbound off-slip of the A1).

All three emergency services attended and the road was closed until shortly after 8pm while collision investigation work was carried out.

Three men and two women were taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for medical attention.

PC Julie Bishop said: "Our inquiries into this matter are ongoing and I would be interested to hear from anyone who saw these vehicles prior to the collision to contact police.

"Likewise, I would ask anyone who saw the collision itself to come forward if they have not already done so."
