MORE than 100 golfers competed for The Haldane Cup on Sunday.
The competition attracts golfers from across East Lothian to the annual 18-hole tournament hosted by Dirleton Castle Golf Club.
Despite exceptionally breezy conditions, the overall standard of play remained high, with several outstanding performances recorded.
In the scratch competition, Dirleton Castle’s Thomas Simmonds produced a remarkable round of 66 to secure his fourth Haldane Cup title.
In the handicap competition, Archerfield’s Stephen Lothian claimed the Haldane Mug with an equally impressive nett score of 64.
Reflecting on the event, Dirleton Castle captain Iain McLean said: “The Haldane Cup was first contested in 1910 and it’s fantastic to see this proud tradition continue by bringing together golfers from across East Lothian each year.
“Despite challenging conditions, the standard of golf was excellent, and congratulations go to all our prize winners, particularly Thomas and Stephen on their outstanding victories.
“As ever, Gullane No. 2 was presented in excellent condition and I would like to thank Paul Armour and his dedicated team for all their hard work, as well as East Lothian Boiler Care for their generous sponsorship.
“We look forward to warmly welcoming everyone back next year.”
