FOUR unanswered goals saw Tranent maintain their 100 per cent record at the top of the Lowland League East.

Robbie Horn’s men were one of three East Lothian teams enjoying a victory over the weekend.

In the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL), Dunbar United continued their impressive start while Preston Athletic picked up their first three points.

Elsewhere, Haddington Athletic suffered their first defeat of the season while Musselburgh Athletic went down to defeat.

Ormiston Primrose picked up a point in EoSFL Second Division Conference East.

After a goalless opening half an hour, Tranent looked well on their way to three points by half time against Civil Service Strollers.

Guy McGarry scored on 35 minutes and doubled the advantage just two minutes later.

There was still time for Corey Thomson to make it three before the break.

Conor Doan then found the net midway through the second half to make it six wins out of six in the Lowland League East for Tranent.

Meanwhile, Musselburgh Athletic travelled to Brechin City for the first time.

The visitors took a first half lead through Nathan Evans but the hosts found a leveller three minutes before half time.

Musselburgh had a chance to restore their lead from the penalty spot but it was missed and Brechin took full advantage with two goals in the final 11 minutes.

Dunbar United remain second in the EoSFL Premier Division after a home win over Edinburgh University.

It was a tale of two penalties in the first half as Edinburgh University saw their spot kick saved before Mackenzie Lawler scored his penalty just before half time.

Dean Whitson then secured the points with a header 11 minutes from time.

Preston Athletic had to do it the hard way against St Andrews United as they trailed 1-0 at half time.

However, goals from Neilson Combe and Ryan Baptie turned the game around and moved Preston off the bottom of the table.

Meanwhile, at Millfield, Haddington’s 11-game unbeaten streak came to an end against Newtongrange Star.

Finally, goals from Brandyn Neil and Josh Winnik saw Ormiston Primrose fight back to take a point at league leaders Edinburgh United.
