THREE wins and three defeats represented a mixed weekend for East Lothian’s football sides.

Dunbar United and Tranent were victorious in the South Challenge Cup while Haddington Athletic progressed in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup.

Unfortunately, Ormiston Primrose exited the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup while Musselburgh Athletic and Preston Athletic both lost out in their search for three points.

Dunbar visited Vale of Leven and two second half goals proved decisive.

Bob Berry opened the scoring on 69 minutes before Mackenzie Lawler’s penalty with 15 minutes left ensured it was the Seasiders progressing.

Tranent were also on their travels as they headed to fellow Lowland League East side Gala Fairydean Rovers.

Dean Brett’s penalty was all that separated the sides at half time but Tranent proved too strong in the second half.

Harry Girdwood doubled the advantage after the break before the hosts managed to pull one back.

However, a Guy McGarry double wrapped up the result.

In West Lothian, Haddington were 2-0 up at half time against Armadale Thistle.

Luke Kennedy scored on the half hour mark before Grant Rose quickly added a second.

Any chance of a comeback was quickly ended when Tom Davies found the net 12 minutes into the second half.

Elsewhere in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup, Ormiston went down 3-2 at home to Edinburgh University.

Mikey Hamilton’s penalty had Ormiston in front at half time before their Premier Division opponents fought back.

Three goals in 15 minutes put them in charge but Daniel Garvey’s effort five minutes from time ensured it was a nervy finish.

Meanwhile, Preston’s wait for three points goes on after Dundonald Bluebell were victorious at the Pennypit.

The visitors opened the scoring eight minutes into the second half and doubled their lead before Mark McGovern netted from the penalty spot.

Finally, Musselburgh Athletic lost out at home to Linlithgow Rose in the Lowland League East.

The visitors to Olivebank scored after four minutes and then wrapped up the win with a 90th minute goal.
