ADON Davie is getting ready to head to “a special place” after a weekend to forget.

The Prestonpans racer had his first no points finish of the season at Snetterton and will be hoping for a change of fortune at Brands Hatch this weekend.

The Kent circuit is popular with much of the field in the Pirelli Sportbike British Championship and Davie was hopeful of another impressive showing after coming second in the final race of the campaign last year.

He said: “Brands is a track I like a lot more.

“I had a really good result there in the wet last season and there are a lot more redeeming features.

“Everybody really enjoys it – although it is still pretty far away from us!

“The weather is to be good down there as well and I am really looking forward to it.

“I think the thing is with Snetterton, there is nothing overly special, especially the in-field section.

“You can tell that it has been designed on a computer, rather than a natural layout.

“Brands is a natural track and it has been there for years without alterations.

“It is one of those that is a bit special – not quite as special as Knockhill.”

Davie has been a regular in the top eight on the track this term and has twice been frustratingly close to a podium place.

However, the fourth round of the campaign at Snetterton proved a difficult weekend for him and the CFMOTO team.

Davie told Courier Sport: “It was pretty tough.

“We struggled pretty much all weekend.

“The first practice was cut short and almost immediately we had a bit of a tyre issue where something was wrong straight away.”

Various steps were taken to try to remedy the issue but qualifying had Davie down in 23rd spot and more than 2.7 seconds behind pole-sitter Harrison Mackay.

And, although the county sportsman was able to match his rivals in a straight line, he was unable to get up to speed quick enough out of the corners.

He said: “Snetterton has some of the longest straights.

“We knew it would be a tough weekend and thought a top 10 finish would be amazing given what we were dealing with.

“We had our expectations of how difficult it would be.”

In the end, Davie crossed the line in 17th place and out of the points, with attention quickly turning to Brands Hatch and the midway point of the campaign.

Davie remains fifth in the title standings but has seen fourth-placed Cameron Dawson move 14 points clear.

The next circuit is full of twists and turns, as well as undulations on the 2.4-mile lap.

Davie said: “No two corners are the same. Every corner has got a little bit of something.

“It is one of those where it is hard to explain but it is a special place.”
