ORMISTON Primrose could be just 90 minutes away from completing an unwanted piece of history.

The New Recreation Park side sit isolated at the bottom of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL), with just one point from 14 games.

And, after Sauchie defeated Hutchison Vale on Saturday, it means Ormiston are one of just two teams yet to win a league fixture in the EoSFL this campaign.

Luncarty, who prop up the First Division, have drawn four encounters but are also yet to savour that winning feeling.

Neither team has a league game until next Saturday (November 22), when Luncarty tackle third-bottom Whitehill Welfare and Ormiston host Stoneyburn.

Ormiston boss Michael Cranston took on the job during the close season.

He told Courier Sport: “All we can do is keep working hard.

“The club is going through a bit of a transition period and we are just trying to get everybody together and grind out that first win.

“It has possibly been more challenging than expected, but I knew what I was walking into.

“It was going to be a tough ask from the start but it is a challenge I am up for.

“We will take it in our stride.

“All we can do is work hard to put the details in, get over the line and get some points on the board.”

On Saturday, Ormiston lost out at home to Third Division leaders Hawick Royal Albert.

This weekend, they face an immediate rematch with the Borders side, although this contest is for a place in the third round of the King Cup rather than for three points.

The cup clash continues an unusual set of fixtures for Ormiston.

On October 25, they faced a league contest with Stoneyburn in West Lothian and returned to Beechwood Park seven days later to face the same opposition.

Hawick Royal Albert were the opponents last weekend and this coming weekend, before Cranston’s team take on Stoneyburn once again.

Then, at the beginning of December, there is a trip to Pumpherston, whom Ormiston gained their only point from on the opening day of the season.

The manager said: “It’s been a strange one, but you can only go with the games in front of you.”

Cranston, who is assisted by Robbie Stirling and Kevin Bathgate, stressed that the team were continuing to work hard in training.

And he was confident that results would come “eventually”, as Ormiston attempt to close the gap on Edinburgh Community, who sit one place and six points better off.

He said: “It is just changing the mindset that once we lose a goal or anything, that we don’t let our heads go down.

“We need to be positive and try to push through it.

“We are still working hard in training to get back on track.

“That is all we can do – just keep working hard.”
