THE county’s finest young swimmers from East Lothian Swim Team (ELST) were in action at the Edinburgh International Swim Meet last weekend at the Royal Commonwealth Pool.

Elite adult and junior swimmers from around the world were competing in this prestigious meet, including Team GB Olympic athletes Duncan Scott and James Wilby.

Seventeen swimmers from ELST qualified to swim, a great achievement given the quality of swimmers in attendance. Several ELST records were broken as the team secured 15 places across the B and junior finals.

In the B finals, Stefan Krawiec placed sixth in the 200m fly and Tegan Black was eighth in the 400m individual medley (IM).

Top-three junior final placements included first in the 200m fly and second in the 400 IM for Zara Krawiec, third in the 400m freestyle for Tegan Black; and second in the 100m freestyle for Zach Slater.

Jamie Ward, ELST head coach, said: “This was a great experience for our athletes, going head-to-head with European, world and Olympic-level athletes.

"The results set us up nicely for the upcoming Scottish National Age Group Championships in April.”
