TWO teenage squash starlets are hoping to be called up for an international tournament after impressive form on the court.

Phoebe Hamilton and Jamie Pearman are hoping to be selected for the end-of-season internationals in the Five Nations event in Cardiff.

Phoebe and Isla Hamilton are also hoping to be named in the squad for the European Teams event held in Portugal.

The new season at Tyne District Squash and Racketball Club started with the Christmas Cup, which eventually came down to a pool of three players vying for top spot.

Fraser Westgarth defeated Isla Hamilton but Phoebe Hamilton beat both Westgarth and Isla Hamilton to lift the trophy.

Next up was the Scottish Squash Junior Championships held in Aberdeen.

Isla Hamilton was runner up in the under-17 girls’ category, while Phoebe Hamilton took the first two games in her semi-final in the under-15 event but faded to lose by three games to two.

Pearman got through to the boys’ under-15 final and led 10-8 in the first game but eventually lost 12-10.

In the third game, he again led 10-8 but this time lost 14-12.

Thirteen-year-old Phoebe was also runner-up in the Edinburgh Division Three Graded event, where she lost 2-1 against an 18-year-old opponent.

The Tyne juniors have also been gaining valuable experience, with Pearman playing at number two for the first team in Division Two, while Phoebe and Isla Hamilton, Fraser and Thomas Kallestrup have been playing for the second team in Division Three of the East Senior Leagues.
