FOUR of East Lothian’s football sides are in action this afternoon (Saturday) as Tranent kick-off tomorrow (Sunday).

Dunbar United and Musselburgh Athletic both have home contests in the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL) Premier Division.

The Seasiders welcome Sauchie Juniors to New Countess Park while Hill of Beath Hawthorn are the visitors to Olivebank Arena.

Haddington Athletic head into the capital to take on Tynecastle.

Preston Athletic are also on their travels in the First Division as they venture to Dunipace.

Finally, Ormiston Primrose were hoping their New Recreation Park pitch was playable when they were hoping to host Stirling University Reserves in the Second Division.

Unfortunately, the game has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Tomorrow, Tranent travel to Broomhill in the Scottish Lowland Football League.

Match of the Day

Dunbar United v Sauchie Juniors

East of Scotland Football League Premier Division

Kick-off 2.30pm

JUST a single point separates Dunbar United and Sauchie Juniors in the Premier Division.

The Seasiders have enjoyed an impressive return to the top flight of the EoSFL.

Twelve wins from 19 games has them sitting fifth in the standings and only four points off second placed Hutchison Vale.

Dunbar were 7-2 winners in the reverse fixture at the beginning of the season and it is fair to say they would take a repeat scoreline come 4.30pm today.

Kick-off 2.30pm

IN ISOLATION, a draw away to league leaders Broxburn Athletic is hardly a bad result.

However, Musselburgh are running out of games if they want to catch the West Lothian side at the top of the table.

The gap remains at 16 points, although Musselburgh can take a big chunk out of that if they win their three games in hand.

They welcome an improving Hill of Beath Hawthorn side who now sit seventh in the table.

There was a goalless draw in Fife in August the last time the two sides met and it could be another close contest.

Tynecastle v Haddington Athletic

East of Scotland Football League Premier Division

Kick-off 2.30pm

A POOR run of form has seen Haddington Athletic slip away from the chasing pack at the top of the Premier Division.

Defeat to Luncarty last time out continued that and they now travel to Tynecastle looking to get back to winning ways.

The capital club sit on 24 points – five worse off than Haddington but with a game in hand.

Tynecastle will be looking to make it a double having enjoyed a 2-0 win at Millfield at the beginning of the season.

Dunipace v Preston Athletic

East of Scotland Football League First Division

Kick-off 2.30pm

AN IMPRESSIVE win over promotion-chasing Whitburn Juniors gave Preston Athletic all three points last time out.

They will be looking to cause another upset when they travel west to take on Dunipace.

Their opponents sit second in the First Division and could move top with a win.

Meanwhile, the Pennypit side could move into sixth in the standings and leapfrog Rosyth if they make it back-to-back victories.

Ormiston Primrose v Stirling University Reserves

East of Scotland Football League Second Division

Kick-off 2.30pm

HOME postponements have been a frustration for Ormiston Primrose in recent months.

Richie Weir’s men have played just one league encounter in East Lothian since the end of September.

The cancellations have been doubly frustrating for Ormiston, who won 4-0 away to Newburgh Juniors in their last contest.

Unfortunately, this afternoon's game has also been cancelled and will need to be rescheduled.

Sunday

Broomhill v Tranent

Scottish Lowland Football League

Kick-off 3pm

TRANENT venture west tomorrow looking to keep themselves firmly in the hunt for second spot – at least – in the Scottish Lowland Football League.

Ahead of today’s fixtures, five points separated the Belters from Cumbernauld Colts in second but Tranent also had two games in hand.

Three points would be very welcome as they look to finish the campaign strongly.

Broomhill sit 14th in the table and picked up a point in the reverse fixture, which finished goalless.
