THE quest for three points is on the agenda for East Lothian’s senior football sides this afternoon (Saturday).
All six teams are in league action with Tranent, Haddington Athletic and Ormiston Primrose at home.
In the Scottish Lowland Football League (SLFL), Tranent host Caledonian Braves at Foresters Park.
In the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL), Haddington welcome Hill of Beath Hawthorn.
Musselburgh Athletic head in the opposite direction to take on Crossgates Primrose while Dunbar United are also on their travels, facing Luncarty.
In the First Division, Preston Athletic venture to Rosyth and, in the Second Division, Ormiston Primrose host Thornton Hibs.
Match of the Day
Crossgates Primrose v Musselburgh Athletic
East of Scotland Football League Premier Division
Kick-off 2pm
IF MUSSELBURGH want to keep the pressure on Broxburn Athletic at the top of the Premier Division, games against the likes of Crossgates Primrose are ones they need to win.
The Fife side sit out of the relegation zone by just two points having won just three league games this term.
In contrast, Musselburgh sit second – 13 points adrift of Broxburn but with two games in hand.
The two sides shared the spoils at Olivebank earlier this term and Liam Burns will be out to avoid a repeat of that 1-1 scoreline.
Tranent v Caledonian Braves
Scottish Lowland Football League
Kick-off 3pm
ANOTHER side hoping to keep their title dreams alive, Tranent host Caledonian Braves.
Ian Little’s men sit fifth in the standings and 12 points adrift of East Kilbride but also with the benefit of two games in hand.
Their opponents are 11th in the table but could move up a place with a surprise victory in East Lothian.
The spoils were shared at Alliance Park in November but Tranent will be out to do better this time around.
Haddington Athletic v Hill of Beath Hawthorn
East of Scotland Football League Premier Division
Kick-off 2.30pm
SEVENTH plays eighth at Millfield this afternoon.
Haddington sit at the back of a pack of teams chasing Broxburn at the top of the table and still have plenty to play for this term.
Their visitors are five points adrift but also with a game in hand.
Scott Bonar’s men won 3-0 in Fife back in August and would gladly take another three points today.
Luncarty v Dunbar United
East of Scotland Football League Premier Division
Kick-off 2pm
PROMOTED together at the end of last season, Dunbar and Luncarty’s seasons have played out very differently.
The East Lothian side sit fourth in the table having picked up 33 points.
In contrast, their hosts have won just two games this term and sit second bottom – above Kinnoull, who were also promoted.
Dunbar put in a five-star showing at New Countess Park in the reverse fixture and another positive result would be well received.
Rosyth v Preston Athletic
East of Scotland Football League First Division
Kick-off 2.30pm
MID-TABLE Preston will be looking to finish the season strongly as they head across the Forth.
Only five points separates the Pennypit side from fifth spot in the table, which is currently shared by their hosts and Whitburn.
Inconsistency has plagued Preston but they have already defeated Rosyth this term.
Three points would be most welcome as they attempt to move up the table.
Ormiston Primrose v Thornton Hibs
East of Scotland Football League Second Division
Kick-off 2pm
POSTPONEMENTS have not helped Ormiston Primrose in their bid to move off the foot of the Second Division table.
A single league game has been played since the end of November and that saw Tweedmouth Rangers pick up three points.
Thornton Hibs sit third in the Second Division table and look a good bet to gain promotion at the end of the campaign.
They were 6-2 winners in the reverse fixture and it looks a challenging afternoon for Ormiston.
