RORY Darge and Huw Jones have been named in the Scotland squad for the Six Nations.

Head coach Gregor Townsend named his 39-player squad on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming tournament.

Darge, who made his international debut in the competition two years ago, has become a key part of the national squad. The former North Berwick High School pupil has represented his country on 15 occasions and helped Scotland to a third-place finish 12 months ago.

He is joined in the squad by 30-year-old Jones.

The Musselburgh-born centre has scored 12 tries in the tournament.

Scotland will head to Spain ahead of the tournament getting under way for a training camp.

Darge and Jones, who both play for Glasgow Warriors, are joined by props Alec Hepburn and Will Hurd, winger Arron Reed and back-three operator Harry Paterson, who have all earned a first call-up to Scotland duty, ahead of the championship opener against Wales in Cardiff on February 3.

Townsend said: “It is a massive challenge, as always, but one we are looking forward to.”

Scotland host France the following Saturday before England visit Scottish Gas Murrayfield on February 24.

Townsend’s team travel to Italy on March 9 and round off the competition at reigning champions Ireland on March 16.
