EAST Lothian Swim Team (ELST) athletes ended 2023 on a high with impressive displays at the Scottish National Short Course Championships and National League Finals.

In total, 13 ELST athletes aged between 14 and 17 competed in the Scottish National Championships which were held in Edinburgh between December 8 and 10, and attracted the best swimmers from across Scotland.

Stefan Krawiec won gold in the 100m freestyle and Zach Slater became Scottish junior champion in the 400m freestyle.

Tegan Black, Calum Peebles and Zara Krawiec also featured as finalists.

The National League Finals were held a week later on Saturday in Glenrothes.

The ELST team finished an excellent third in Division A, just behind the runners-up, City of Glasgow, with Warrender Baths taking the title.

Jamie Ward, ELST head coach, was encouraged by the team’s performance and excited for the season ahead.

He said: “The Scottish National Short Course and the National League Finals are the first real tests of the season and I am really pleased to see the results of the early-season work.

“It was great to see our athletes competing and holding their own with some of Scotland’s finest.

“The excellent results are testament to the great work the athletes have put in so far and are a great sign for the season ahead.”
