ADON Davie has described two victories in front of a bumper home crowd as being among the best racing weekends of his career.

The teenager was among those lining up at Knockhill for two races in the Quattro Group British Supersport Championships.

And from the very first session, where Davie matched his fastest ever time round the Fife circuit, he was pushing for success.

The Prestonpans racer picked up points in the main championships, as well as the Supersport Cup.

He said: “In the two races, I won both in the Supersport Cup races but also finished 13th and 12th overall in the Supersport class, which is miles better than we have had all season.

“It is probably the best weekend I have had racing.”

The trip to Knockhill marked the first time he had competed in front of a bumper crowd.

Davie, who works in Musselburgh’s Tesco store, said: “It was even better than I expected.

“On Sunday, during the lunch break, I went round the other side and watched and all the people were coming by and looking at the bike.

“There were people coming up looking for autographs and the number of flags round the track made it quite a special weekend.”

Points in the Supersport Championship put Davie and his Ducati 23rd overall in the standings.

However, the two victories in the Supersport Cup are enough to push him into third spot, 26 points adrift of the series leader Harry Leigh.

Davie was remaining cautious about any title challenge, though.

He will not compete at the next round at Snetterton, where he has not enjoyed great fortune in the past.

Instead, attention will switch to Brands Hatch later next month.

The 18-year-old said: “It is going to be difficult to work out who is where. Not everyone goes to the same races.

“Although we are sitting third, we have done all four of the rounds, whereas now we do not go to Snetterton. That is the first one I have missed and it will fall into place in the last two rounds. That is when you properly see who could win.

“We will miss Snetterton but we are looking forward to Brands Hatch, which, other than Knockhill, is my favourite.”

Meanwhile, Lewis Rollo, who was competing in the National Superstock category, finished just four-tenths of a second off of the podium.

The Gifford rider was hot on the heels of Alex Olsen in the first race but finished fourth. Rollo then finished 14th in the second race.
