MUSSELBURGH Athletic finished their Premier Division season in style while Haddington Athletic also picked up a win.

Preston Athletic and Ormiston Primrose suffered defeats while results elsewhere mean Dunbar United move closed to the First Division title without kicking a ball.

Musselburgh Athletic rounded off their season with a thumping 7-0 win over Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts at home in the Premier Division.

Jordan Smith netted four times (34, 38, 44 and 66) while Nathan Evans (22), Liam Reid (29) and Ben Weekes (51) also scored in the win over the Fife side.

Ali Adams was sent off for Musselburgh on the side-lines late on.

Musselburgh finish the season on 56 points and in third place in the table.

Haddington Athletic were 2-1 victors over Jeanfield Swifts in the Premier Division to wrap up their league campaign and put a dampener on the Perthshire club’s final game under their management team.

Haddington had an early lead on 11 minutes thanks to a well-taken goal from Joe Tait.

But the visitors were level two minutes later from the penalty spot.

Jeanfield were reduced to 10 men after captain Aaron Whitehead slid in dangerously on Guy McGarry and received a second yellow on 17 minutes.

Haddington made it count when Guy McGarry put them back in front on 67 minutes drawing him level with Gabri Auriemma as the club’s top scorer this season with 11 goals to secure the win.

Haddington finish the season on 50 points and in fifth place.

While their league season is over, Haddington return to League Cup quarter-final action tomorrow (Tuesday) where they face Coldstream.

In the First Division, Dunbar United were not in action as fellow title contenders Glenrothes were beaten 4-1 at home to Rosyth putting Dunbar back in the driving seat to secure the title.

Dunbar are one point clear of Glenrothes at the top of the table with both sides now having played 28 games.

Preston Athletic were on the receiving end of a 2-1 away defeat to Kennoway Star Hearts.

Stephen McCole grabbed the county side’s only goal of the game as they were beaten in a tight affair.

Preston Athletic are ninth in the table and face Dunipace away from home on Saturday.

In the Second Division, Ormiston Primrose suffered a 5-1 home defeat to Herriot Watt University.

The county side’s hopes of survival took a hit with the visitors comfortable throughout.
