TRANENT Juniors took part in an entertaining draw with Rangers B and Musselburgh Athletic thrashed Vale of Leithen in this weekend’s round of football fixtures.

Tranent Juniors played their part in a thrilling 2-2 home draw against Rangers B in the Scottish Lowland League. Tranent took an early lead through Adam McGowan before Aiden Walsh had a goal ruled out for offside. Rangers equalised late in the first half through Zak Lovelace taking it to the break with the scores level.

Tranent took the lead again in the second half through Cammy Ross. But Tranent would have to see out the game with 10 men after Oban Anderson was controversially sent off for a foul on Charlie Lindsay.

Despite their best efforts Tranent couldn’t hold out and Lovelace levelled for Rangers B with 11 minutes to play.

And it looked like it might get worse when Rangers B were awarded a penalty in added time. Lovelace stepped up looking to make it a hattrick, but Kelby Mason did incredibly well to save and secured the point for Tranent.

In the First Division, Dunbar United were narrowly beaten 3-2 away from home in a match with an entertaining finish against Glenrothes. But the comeback was a step too far and Glenrothes secured the three points.

Preston Athletic were also narrowly beaten at home to Luncarty. Preston trailed 1-0 in the first half before equalising through Mikey Hamilton before half time from the penalty spot.

It was also defeat for Ormiston Primrose in the Second Division as they lost 2-1 at home to Lochgelly Albert. Matty Underhill equalised for Ormiston early in the first half after the visitors took the lead. But Lochgelly restored their lead before half time and held on for the win.
