EAST Lothian runners have launched into the cross-country season with great form, claiming some podium performances already.

The East District Cross Country relay championships took place at the beginning of last month at Mossilee Farm, Galashiels.

Although the weather was kind, the course was very challenging – with a long, steep hill near the start of the 2.5k loop, as well as a climb again to the finish.

Three runners made up a team, each from a different age category: one under-13, one under-15 and one under-17.

Team East Lothian (TEL) had fantastic representation at this event with two girls’ teams and four boys’ teams.

The girls’ A team consisted of Freya Brown, Cerys Wright and Olivia Robbins.

Sula Russell, Morven Kenny and Rachel Stevens made up the girls’ B team and finished in a strong seventh place (out of 24 teams).

Wright, Brown, Kenny and Robbins were all in the top 10 fastest times for their respective age categories.
