EAST Lothian had excellent representation at the recent relay championships at Grangemouth.

Teams from Team East Lothian (TEL) and Musselburgh AC took part in the relays, which covered 100m, 300m, 400m and 800m.

The gold-winning team were the under-13 girls in the 3x800m, with TEL trio Freya Brown, Cara Lei and Cerys Wright clocking a superb time of 7m47.28s.

Also putting in a medal-winning performance for TEL were the under-17 men’s 4x100m, as Bailey Crawford, Jack Renton, Isaac Stevenson and Gregory Hoggan safely navigated the rounds and ran 45.72s to win an excellent bronze.

There was more success for the under-17 Team East Lothian age group in both the 4x400m and 3x800m relays.

In the men’s 4x400m, Bailey Crawford, Jack Renton, Isaac Stevenson and John Marshall won a hard-fought bronze in a time of 3m50.80s.

Over the longer distance, Ronnie Brown, Jamie Smith and Aidan Page ran fantastic splits to clock an overall time of 6m08.01s and also win a team bronze.

In the under-17 women’s 3x800m, Olivia Robbins, Cristina Elliot and Maja Thomson paced their laps perfectly to finish in 7m16.98s, which was also a bronze medal-winning performance.

Eily Sinclair, Rachel Stevens and Ella Nicholson made up another under-17 women’s team in the 3x800m and ran consistent splits to record a solid time of 7m50.05s.

The under-15 and under-13 age groups also had teams in the 3x800m.

In the under-15 boys, Ben Krievs, Thomas Gornall and Joe Smith ran 7m43.50s.

In the younger age group, Jacob Lamb, Josh Cooper and Matthew Connolly ran 8m07.25s.

Meanwhile, in the under-15 girls’ 4x100m, Layla Magee, Rebecca Hill, Lily Hamilton and Aoife Swan-Ashe ran a great time of 59.65s.

The under-15 boys’ team was made up of Howie Allison, Joe Smith, Jake Page and Sam Renton, running an excellent 53.88s.

The under-17 women’s 4x100m team just missed out on the finals as Stella McGregor, Eilidh Sproule, Anna Smart and Emily McKenzie ran 54.67s.

Elsewhere, the TEL women’s 4x100m team had a strong run to make it to the final and the quartet of Kerry Morris, Laura Buchan, Erin Hall and Joanne Welch ran 52.44s to finish in seventh place overall.

Musselburgh had both boys’ and girls’ teams compete in the 4x100m.

The under-15 boys’ team of Ross Dargo, Patrick Forsyth, Filip Skorb and Jake Nicol ran 52.48s and finished in second place in their heat to safely qualify for the final. They improved that time by more than three seconds in the final with a superb run of 48.7s to finish in sixth place overall.

The under-13 girls’ team of Ashlyn Dickson, Ella Nicol, Flick Thomson and Heidi Nicholson ran 63.33s in their heat.

Also running well from Musselburgh were the under-13 girls’ 3x800m team, with Imogen Turner, Heidi Nicholson and Thea Cooke clocking a time of 8m34.63s in the heats.

With multiple medals, personal bests and club records broken, it was a successful event for the East Lothian athletes to round off the 2022 track season.
