EAST Lothian Swim Team (ELST) – made up of swimmers from Haddington, Musselburgh and Tranent swim clubs – dominated the Tranent Open Graded Meet last weekend at the Mercat Gait Centre, Prestonpans.

The meet attracted more than 200 swimmers from 17 different clubs.

East Lothian swimmers swam fantastically and achieved multiple personal bests, with the following swimmers winning medals:

Time Band A:

  • Ross Anderton (Tranent) won four medals: two silvers (100m butterfly and 100m freestyle) and two bronzes (50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke);
  • Conner Aspinall (Haddington) won two medals, a silver in the 100m backstroke and a bronze in the 100m freestyle;
  • Olivia Flockhart (Musselburgh) won a bronze in the 100m breaststroke;
  • Anna Lawson (Musselburgh) won two medals, a gold in the 50m freestyle and a silver in the 100m freestyle;

  • Ava Marko (Musselburgh) won gold in the 100m butterfly;
  • Caitlin Peebles (Tranent) won gold in the 100m backstroke;
  • Calum Peebles (Tranent) swept the board winning five golds across all events;
  • Alex Taylor (Tranent) won silver in the 50m freestyle.

Time Band B:

  • Nina Bivar Segurado (Haddington) won silver in the 100m backstroke;
  • Brodie Boyle (Haddington) won bronze in the 100m breaststroke;
  • Boyd Fearnside (Haddington) won a bronze medal in the 100m backstroke;
  • Grace Hanak (Tranent) won bronze in the 100m butterfly;
  • Adriana Krzyszczak (Tranent) won gold in the 100m breaststroke;
  • Alexander Prest (Haddington) won gold in the 100m backstroke.

Jamie Ward, ELST head coach, said: “This was a great meet for some of our more inexperienced swimmers, who have not competed a lot over the last couple of years due to the pandemic.

“All of our swimmers swam really well with great technique on show, many PBs smashed and lots of smiling faces.

“A big shout out to Tranent Amateur Swimming Club (one of our home clubs) for organising a hugely successful day.”
