THE headline fixture for East Lothian’s football teams this weekend comes at Millfield.
Haddington Athletic welcome Musselburgh Athletic in the final round of fixtures in the Group G of the League Cup.
Elsewhere, Preston Athletic can strengthen their chances of progressing from the cup as they host Stirling University.
Dunbar United will likely need to beat Whitehill Welfare to have any chance of progressing from Group H.
Finally, Tranent Juniors will need to defeat Hawick Royal Albert United to top Group I.
There is also one league game as Ormiston welcome Coldstream in First Division Conference A.
All five games kick off at 2.30pm.
Match of the day
League Cup Group G
Haddington Athletic v Musselburgh Athletic
Haddington Athletic’s last five games: WWDWW
Musselburgh Athletic’s last five games: WDWLW
IT IS winner takes all at Millfield.
Former Haddington Athletic boss Joe Hamill brings his Musselburgh Athletic side along the A1.
The visitors sit above their hosts in the Group G standings in the League Cup due to a better goal difference.
Victory would see Haddington leapfrog both Musselburgh and Heriot Watt University – who sit one point clear of both teams but the capital club have played all their group fixtures.
Scott Bonar's men come into the game on the back of a 4-0 win at Tweedmouth Rangers, which pushed them to joint top of the First Division Conference A table.
However, Musselburgh come into the contest following an 8-1 triumph at home to Pumpherston Thistle.
League Cup Group B
Preston Athletic v Stirling University
Preston Athletic’s last five games: LDWWL
DEFEAT last time out to Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale has left Preston Athletic needing to pick up three points to have any chance of finishing top of Group B.
The capital side won 1-0 last Friday and sit on six points – two ahead of Jack Lynch’s men.
The Pennypit club welcome Stirling University to East Lothian and will be keen to at least secure second spot in the table.
Their visitors have only played one game in the competition, which saw them lose 5-3 to Dunipace.
Preston and Stirling have already met twice in the league, with the East Lothian club taking victory on both occasions.
League Cup Group H
Dunbar United v Whitehill Welfare
Dunbar United’s last five games: WWLLL
BACK-TO-BACK wins has put a spring in the step of Dunbar United.
The Seasiders looked like they were slipping to defeat against Linlithgow Rose last weekend as they trailed 2-0 in the second half.
However, a Steven Thomson free-kick, followed by a Dean Whitson double, turned the game on its head and gave them three much-needed points.
That came seven days after they defeated Stoneyburn in the League Cup.
Kevin Haynes and his team need another three points if they are to have any chance of topping Group H.
Whitehill Welfare have seven points from a possible nine while Dunbar have three out of six.
League Cup Group I
Tranent Juniors v Hawick Royal Albert United
Tranent Juniors’ last five games: WWDWL
A BIG win is needed if Tranent Juniors are to overtake Syngenta at the top of Group I in the League Cup.
Victory would pull Calum Elliot’s men level with the Ochilview side but they need to win by seven clear goals to take top spot.
Hawick Royal Albert United are the visitors to Foresters Park.
The Borders side have conceded 21 goals in three cup games and sit bottom of First Division Conference B.
A draw or a surprise defeat would leave Tranent in second spot and waiting to see if they are one of the best second placed teams.
First Division Conference A
Ormiston v Coldstream
Ormiston’s last five games: LDLDL
RELEGATION awaits Ormiston if they fail to defeat Coldstream this afternoon.
The East Lothian side will join Craigroyston in the Second Division next year unless they can pick up a third league win of the campaign.
Results have been promising for Richie Weir’s men in recent weeks, with two draws in their last four games.
However, their visitors have ambitions of their own and will be looking to pick up three points to strengthen their bid for a top half finish.
Coldstream won the reverse fixture 3-0 at the beginning of October.
