VICTORY over Edinburgh Northern has seen Haddington A crowned East Reserve League Division Three champions.

The Neilson Park side had already won Conference One ahead of Dalkeith 2nd XV, who had an identical record of 10 wins from 12 contests.

The bonus points were enough to give Haddington the league title and set up a contest with Edinburgh Northern, who won Conference Two.

They held off Watsonian 3rd XV to set up the tie on Saturday against Haddington.

Two tries from Matt Black, as well as scores from Alex Ferguson, Stephen Tennant and Rob McLuckie, helped Haddington to a 33-15 win.

Ferguson also kicked all five conversions on the way to victory.

Gavin Harper, captain of the 2nd XV, was on hand to collect the trophy from George Clark, reserve league committee convenor.

Victory means that Haddington are promoted to East Reserve League Division Two alongside clubs such as Watsonians FC and Linlithgow.

A spokesman for the club praised the management team of Mark Leonard, Harper and Ian Clark.

A proud Leonard said: “These boys fronted up and grew up today.

“Great efforts from all, with young boys really stepping up throughout the year.”
