A NUMBER of East Lothian's rugby players will represent Scotland in the various Six Nations Championships over the weekend.

Huw Jones has been named as part of the Scotland team set to take on Ireland in the Six Nations tomorrow (Saturday).

The Musselburgh-born 26-year-old is part of Gregor Townsend's team alongside seven of his Glasgow Warriors team-mates.

Jones, who scored two tries on his home debut for Scotland against Australia in 2016, will be hoping to help Scotland get off to a winning start against Ireland, who finished third last year.

He is not the only one with an East Lothian connection set to represent Scotland in the championships.

North Berwick's Rory Darge, who will start at No 8, has been named as captain of Scotland's under-20s side as they look to get their tournament off to a strong start against last year’s under-20 Grand Slam champions, Ireland.

Named alongside him are former North Berwick High School pupil Roan Frostwick, while Robbie McCallum, who attended Loretto School, in Musselburgh, is also in the team.

Former Musselburgh RFC man Kyle McGhie has been named on the bench, with the Scots in action at Independent Park in Cork this evening (Friday).

Also in action this evening is Grant Mollison, from Haddington, who is part of the Club XV team who face Ireland in Galashiels.

Finally, Megan Gaffney and Annabel Sergeant, both from North Berwick, are part of the 32-strong squad for the Women's Six Nations.

Scotland play their first game on Sunday when they face Ireland.
