Calvin Shand, who last month resigned as Musselburgh Athletic boss, has been named as the new manager of Tranent Juniors.

He said: "I’m absolutely delighted to be the new manager of Tranent Juniors FC.
"It’s a forward-thinking club with great ambition and I believe I’m the right man to help take the club to the next level.

"I’ve had a few weeks out the game but as soon as this job became available I knew it was the right one for me. It’s an exciting time to be part of this club and I’m grateful for the opportunity.

"It’s a talented changing room and together as a squad we will work as hard as possible to bring success to Tranent Juniors. I can’t wait to get started."

He told the Courier last month that he felt it was the right time to depart Musselburgh but stressed that had left on good terms.

Shand, who led Musselburgh to the Premier League title last season, has signed an 18-month contract at Tranent.

His new side host Crossgates Primrose on Saturday.
