FORMER North Berwick High School pupil Liz Musgrove is set to don international colours and represent Scotland Women against Spain at the weekend.

Musgrove, who lives near Drem, has been included in a 25-strong Scotland squad for the international against the Spanish at Glasgow Warriors' Scotstoun Stadium on Sunday.

She is the only East Lothian representative in the squad, with Megan Gaffney having called time on her international career - for the time being at least - to go travelling.

It is not the first time Musgrove has played for Scotland Women, having turned out in two trial matches earlier this year, and she will have to wait for her first cap - Sunday's match is a non-cap international, Scottish Rugby have confirmed to Courier Sport.

The match is a warm-up for the women's Six Nations.

Shade Munro, Scotland Women head coach, said: “We’ve played a number of important fixtures against Spain over the past few years, most notably the World Cup qualification match which we narrowly lost in November 2016. So, we are very much looking forward to taking them on once more.”

A Scotland Women XV took on Spain in November last year, running out 24-5 winners.

Munro added: “It will provide the players with the opportunity to cement their place in the squad as we approach our opener away to Wales.

“Spain, who are ranked above us, will be much changed, and as a result much stronger, than the team we faced in Madrid so we will have to be at our very best if we are to come out on top.”

Tickets for the game, which kicks off at 1pm, are available at scottishrugby.org.
