SPRINT star Maria Lyle won the bronze medal at the IPC World Athletics Championships in London yesterday (Sunday).
Lyle, who has cerebral palsy, finished third in the T35 200m behind long-time rival Isis Holt, of Australia, who took gold, and Xia Zhou of China, who won the silver.
The 17-year-old said she was "so pleased" to have picked up a medal.
She said: "I was injured in the holding camp and I was only able to run on Wednesday so I am pleased.
"I'm pleased with my time - a season's best."
The teenager also hailed the crowd at the Queen Elizabeth II stadium - the venue for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Lyle added: "It is amazing that everyone has come out and is supporting us."
She will go for a second medal in the T35 100m on Wednesday.
