COUNTY-based rugby coach Vern Cotter is to leave his role in charge of the Scotland national side.
Cotter, who moved to the county in 2014 when he took up the position, will be replaced by current Glasgow Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend in the role.
The New Zealander still has a year to run on his contract, and will oversee the Autumn Tests and the 2017 Six Nations before departing.
Cotter, 54, said: "I have been really pleased with the progress that has been made in all areas.
"The focus has been to respect tradition but also perform in the present, be adaptive and innovative.
“The players, and my management group, have enjoyed working hard to give the fans and Scottish Rugby results and performances to be proud of."
Townsend will take up the role in June next year, and it is not yet clear whether Cotter and his family will remain county residents.
