SEVEN new units could be created at the heart of a busy industrial estate.

The units, which would be suitable for class four (business), five (general industrial) and six (storage or distribution), are being proposed by Baseline Construction Ltd.

The developers are keen to add the units to Macmerry Industrial Estate, which is already home to a range of businesses.

Proposals for land east of Randall House are now being considered by East Lothian Council’s planning department.

Each unit would have an internal floor space of about 100m2.

According to those behind the plans: “The proposal will fulfil an underprovision of industrial units in the local area to the direct benefit of local households and businesses.

“It is fully believed that it will also deliver economic benefit and employment locally.”
