A FESTIVE feeling will spread throughout Haddington when the town’s Christmas lights are switched on later this month.
An afternoon of entertainment will take place in the centre of the town before the area is lit up on November 22.
Councillor George McGuire revealed that plans were well under way for the event.
He said: “The lights switch on will be at 4.30pm outside the Corn Exchange.
“The day will start at noon with shows and traders and East Coast FM providing entertainment from noon to 4.30pm on the street there.
Christmas lights will be switched on in Haddington in November
“Entertainment will include Knox Academy Brass Band, Haddington Choir, some of the performers from The Brunton panto and Haddington Pipe Band.
“There will also be Santa Claus’s grotto.”
The town’s festive display is put together each year by volunteers from Haddington Events Group.
Mr McGuire encouraged more people to go forward to help organise events in the town.
He said: “Like everywhere else, you see everywhere screaming out for volunteers.
“We are no different. Any and all volunteers would be very much appreciated.
“It makes life much easier, simpler and quicker for those involved in it.
“A special mention to Craig Douglas in the Victoria Inn, who are sponsoring new lights and decorations for the Haddington Christmas tree.”
