A COUNTY man left his partner with an injury after assaulting her at an address in Tranent.

Liam Bryson, 21, attacked the woman by throwing her to the ground and grabbing a mobile phone from her hand during the violent incident at the Lindores Drive property.

Court papers state that Bryson injured the woman during the assault, which took place on July 20 last year.

The offence was prosecuted under section 1 of the Abusive Behaviour and Sexual Harm (Scotland) Act 2016.

He was due to be sentenced at a hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Friday after previously pleading guilty to the charge last month.

But when the case called, the court was told that the required social work report had not been prepared in time.

Sheriff Gillian Sharp agreed to defer sentence further to October 9.
