AN AWARD-WINNING pub has narrowly missed out on adding to its prize collection.
The Victoria Inn in Haddington was one of three Scottish businesses up for the Community Support Hero award at the Community Pub Hero Awards.
A ceremony took place in the House of Commons last Tuesday, where the Scottish prize went to The Islay Inn in Glasgow.
Craig Douglas, owner of the popular pub on Haddington’s Court Street, travelled down to the awards.
He said it was “nice to be nominated” and added: “We never won, unfortunately, but it was a great day.
“It was nice to meet up with other publicans and like-minded people who are doing great in their communities throughout the country.”
Sponsored by Diageo and supported by the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group, the awards celebrate pubs that go above and beyond for their communities through sport, fundraising, sustainability and community support.
