AN EAST Linton man has been placed on the sex offenders' register after he exposed himself to a female police officer.
Craig Douglas was arrested after officers had been called out when he was seen to be acting in a threatening manner towards an employee at the Superdrug store on Princes Street, Edinburgh.
Douglas, 31, was taken to St Leonard’s Police Station in the Capital for processing, where he proceeded to assault two officers and expose himself to a third.
Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told that Douglas attempted to strike PC Craig Tweed to the head and kicked PC Ethan Quinn on the body.
Douglas, of Browns Place, then removed a blanket and exposed his genitals in the presence of an officer while in a cell at the station on July 31.
He admitted all the offences when he appeared at the Capital court earlier this year and he was back in the dock for sentencing last Wednesday.
Douglas also pleaded guilty to charges of stealing alcohol from the Asda supermarket in Tranent and the Asda store in Dunbar, both on January 8.
Sheriff Kenneth Campbell KC sentenced Douglas to a community payback order with an 80-hour unpaid work element.
The sheriff also marked the sexual offence by placing Douglas on the sex offenders' register for nine months.
