THE Loch Centre in Tranent will close today as work begins on a year-long programme of repairs and refurbishment.

The entire centre will be closed during the works, including its gym, fitness facilities, changing rooms and other services.

The swimming pool has already been closed since 2023 following a fault with the roof, but the remainder of the centre has continued to operate.

The closure, from 4.30pm, is expected to last for about a year, with the facility due to reopen following completion of the refurbishment.

Customers will still be able to use other Enjoy Leisure facilities across the county during the temporary closure.

Clubs, classes and activities which normally take place at the Loch Centre have been accommodated at alternative venues where possible.

Staff based at the centre will be redeployed across other Enjoy Leisure facilities while the work is carried out.

The Loch Centre first opened in 1970 and the refurbishment will include essential repairs and improvements to the ageing facility.

The works follow advance preparations which have taken place at the centre in recent weeks.
