A DUNBAR man has been placed under supervision and ordered to attend substance misuse services after he admitted assaulting his former partner.
Brian Sinclair grabbed the woman by the throat and threatened to kill her during a violent attack at an address in the town on February 17 last year.
Sinclair, 57, pinned the victim against a wall, pushed her head against the wall and punched her on the body whereby she ended up on the ground.
He then shouted, swore and made threats to stab police officers during a 999 call to the emergency services.
He also issued a threat he would set a dog on the officers if they attempted to enter the home.
Sinclair, of the town’s Harbour Court, pleaded guilty to the charges during a hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court earlier this year and was back in the dock for sentencing on Monday.
Sheriff John Cook placed him under the supervision of the social work department for 24 months and said he must attend substance misuse and mental health appointments when directed to do so by supervising officer.
A review will be held in November and the consideration of a non-harassment order was continued until that date.
