NEARLY 60 gigs will be spread across 18 venues as Dunbar Music Festival returns with its biggest ever programme.
The festival, which dates back to 1988, will bring established artists, emerging musicians, community choirs and young performers to venues across the town, including pubs, hotels, restaurants and community spaces including Lauderdale Park, Dunbar Garden Centre and the Green Cat record shop.
Running from September 25 to 27, the programme reflects the festival’s community focus, with local talent taking centre stage alongside professional musicians.
Neil Allison, chair of the festival, was looking forward to the three-day event.
He said: “For three days, Dunbar becomes a town immersed in live music, with something for everyone - from established artists to young local performers, community choirs and emerging talent.
“We’re delighted to be able to offer almost 60 free gigs this year, as well as some really special headliners in Dunbar Parish Church Hall.
“The support we receive from our funders, sponsors, local business, volunteers and audiences makes it possible to keep the festival accessible while continuing to grow the programme.
“We’ve packed together a terrific three-day line-up and look forward to seeing locals and visitors come together and enjoy it to the full.”
A youth bands showcase at Dunbar Royal British Legion, in association with ELJam, DJ sessions in BeGreen and High Street busking will all take place on September 26, giving young and emerging musicians the opportunity to perform to festival audiences.
The scale of this year’s programme follows strong demand for the festival’s three ticketed headline shows.
King Creosote’s opening show sold out in under a week, while tickets for The Countess of Fife, and Kathryn Joseph and Lomond Campbell, are also selling strongly, with limited tickets remaining.
The headline shows will take place in the revamped Dunbar Parish Church Hall.
Other performances are held in venues ranging from Brig & Barrel and Bear & Bull to Royal Mackintosh Hotel and The Monk's Retreat.
The full festival programme is now available at dunbarmusicfestival.co.uk with printed programmes distributed across East Lothian, including venues in Dunbar, Haddington and North Berwick.
The festival’s biggest ever programme has been made possible through funding support from local businesses, charities and arts organisations, including Dunbar Community Council, Belhaven Brewery, Viridor and East Lammermuir Community Council, as well as The National Lottery Community Fund, Artemis Charitable Foundation and SCOPS Arts Trust.
The festival also receives donations from a number of local traders.
