A VERY special stage beckons for young gymnasts as they get ready to show what they can do at Disneyland Paris.
Members of East Lothian Gymnastics Academy (ELGA) have been given the opportunity to take part in Gymnastique Magique, an international festival and competition in October.
The young people, ranging in age from five to 16, have been training hard to develop their skills and fine-tune their routines.
Given the significant costs associated with travelling abroad, over the past few months the club has hosted a number of fundraising activities to make the trip possible.
The children have also made sure to get stuck in with bag packing at Tesco, car washing in the local area, hosting a bake sale and spring fair, as well as enjoying a fundraising day at EH32 Live last month, with all money from a raffle, home baking, children’s activities and glitter tattoos going towards the cause.
Gymnasts will travel across to France for the competition alongside their families, with 20 young people taking part and showcasing their abilities.
ELGA was founded in 2008 by sisters Stacey Gordon, Hayley Douglas and Megan McDonald, based at the Port Seton Centre, and going from strength to strength in the years since.
Coaches have been delighted by both the dedication of their young athletes and the strength of the local support in helping them to pursue their goals.
Money raised will help with costs incurred, including travel, accommodation, competition fees and training costs.
The hope is to “create memories that will last a lifetime”, a spokesperson for the club said, and all look forward to seeing the gymnasts “proudly represent our local community on an international stage”.
The annual Gymnastique Magique event at Disneyland Paris features floor-based and acro-gymnastics routines on stage, as well as competitive categories for various age groups.
A pre-parade will also let the youngsters experience some of the Disney magic themselves before they represent their clubs from across the world.
