A BUSINESS at the centre of Dunbar has been given the thumbs-up by a television star and former MP.
Gyles Brandreth sang the praises of The Tipsy Truffle following his show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Julie Watt, who owns the High Street shop alongside daughter Katie, had attended the show Gyles Brandreth: Up Memory Lane! at the Gordon Aikman Theatre in Assembly George Square on Sunday.
Julie told the Courier: “I have always been a massive Gyles Brandreth fan.
“I know he divides opinion and some people like him and some people don’t.
“I listen to his podcast, Rosebud, and it is one of the best podcasts ever.
“I saw he was coming to the Edinburgh Fringe and thought I would go along and say thank you and give him some chocolates.
“I was not even thinking of advertising but he was very good with his time.
“He did a little piece to camera and that is how it all came about.”
During the short video, which was filmed by daughter Katie, the This Morning and Countdown favourite said: “If you want a quality chocolate, you need to go to The Tipsy Truffle. Dunbar’s finest!
“I know the family, I know the chocolates and I have to say that the family are fun but the chocolates are delicious.
“People are trying to steal them from me!”
The chocolates were then taken by the podcast’s producer, with a promise that they would be shared with Mr Brandreth’s wife, Michelle.
Mr Brandreth was the MP for the City of Chester from 1992 to 1997.
