Search the Public Notice PortalPLANS for a new housing development in Tranent have been revealed, as residents are encouraged to give feedback and “influence the proposals”.
A site off Lammermoor Terrace, currently an agricultural field, could be transformed if the proposals are approved, with the area earmarked for about 120 properties.
A proposal of application notice was submitted in June by Miller Homes and a public exhibition was held last week, when representatives discussed with attendees.
The site is located on the western edge of Tranent, situated south of the A199, and between the existing houses on Lammermoor Terrace and existing houses along Elphinstone Road to the south.
The site is allocated within the adopted East Lothian Local Development Plan (LDP) 2018 and allocated for about 120 homes.
The new development would require the provision of a SUDS basin to deal with all surface water within the site.
Developers said that this would “present opportunities to improve the biodiversity of the site”, and that existing hedgerows and tree planting would also be enhanced.
The local footpath and cycle network would be extended through the new neighbourhood.
According to the developer, the site is “well placed to take advantage of surrounding local amenities and existing public transport network”.
Residents can now fill out a questionnaire to give feedback on the proposals until the deadline on Sunday.
Ideas and comments “will be taken into account” and influence proposals as they evolve, which will then be presented at a second consultation event on September 10.
All feedback will then be collated within a pre-application consultation, which is submitted to the local authority with the formal planning application, which is “likely to be submitted later in 2026”.

Comments should not be made to East Lothian Council as the planning authority directly and are instead intended only for the applicants to consider at this stage.
