THE departure time of a rush-hour train leaving Edinburgh has been pushed back after concerns from people working in the Capital.
Previously, the train, which stopped at East Linton and Dunbar, set off from the city centre at 5.34pm.
However, that was pushed forward to 5.21pm when alterations were made to the timetable towards the end of last year.
Since then, members of Rail Action Group, East of Scotland (RAGES) have been working with TransPennine Express management to see if the departure time could be pushed back.
A spokesperson for the rail group was pleased to say that changes would come into force later this year.
They said: “Members approached the committee to highlight that travelling back from their work had been made very difficult after the 5.34pm had been retimed to 5.21pm in the December 2025 timetable change.
“After much information gathering around the 5.21pm and other train services which were/could affect its journey between Edinburgh and Newcastle, and working closely with TransPennine Express management, we are pleased to confirm that the 5.21pm will move back by some 12 minutes to 5.33pm in the December 2026 timetable change.
“This not only allows passengers to have more flexibility around their working hours but also does away with their train being held behind the North Berwick service and the six-minute lie over in Dunbar station.”
The change, which comes into force on December 14, applies to trains heading southbound Monday to Friday.
Leaving Edinburgh at 5.33pm, it will arrive in East Linton at 5.50pm and Dunbar seven minutes later.
