MUSSELBURGH'S Callum Beattie is set to top the bill at one of the country’s most iconic live music venues when he headlines Edinburgh Castle tomorrow (Friday).
The singer-songwriter will perform on the Castle esplanade on Friday night marking another milestone in his rapidly rising career.
Callum, who started his career playing in East Lothian and Edinburgh pubs and clubs, has become one of Scotland's most recognisable music stars, earning a devoted following through songs including Salamander Street, Heart Stops Beating and Something In My Eye.
He has also recently returned home from the United States, where he was supporting Scotland during their FIFA World Cup campaign.
Announcing the show, organisers described Callum as one of Scotland's most exciting homegrown artists, whose energetic live performances and heartfelt songwriting have earned him widespread acclaim.
Originally, the singer, who now lives in Glasgow, thought the offer to play the Castle was a joke, describing the opportunity as “surreal”.
He also paid tribute to the support he has received from fans throughout his career.
He added: “I wanted to take this opportunity before the absolute madness kicks in this week to say an enormous thanks to all of you guys [his fans] for supporting us and always having our backs.
"Without you, none of this would be possible and Callum and I are both very grateful to have built our little tribe alongside all of you.
"You are honestly different gravy."
His Edinburgh Castle performance follows a landmark year which has seen the release of his third studio album, INDI, and comes after his headline show at Glasgow's OVO Hydro.
Callum will be joined by special guests Reverend and the Makers, with gates opening at 6.45pm ahead of the support act at 8pm.
Beattie is due on stage at 9pm, with the concert ending at 10.30pm.
Fans heading to the Esplanade will be able to pick up official INDI tour merchandise, with items such as T-shirts, hats, jackets, tote bags, signed posters and teddy bears on sale at the venue.
The concert forms part of the annual Edinburgh Castle summer series, organised by Castle Concerts, which this year also features performances from Garbage, James Taylor, Deacon Blue and Snow Patrol.
