INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after a dad was left with a catalogue of injuries after a hit-and-run driver knocked him off his bicycle.
David McManus spent more than week in hospital after the incident between Haddington and Morham last month.
Police launched an appeal for information following the hit-and-run, which took place at about 7am on June 8.
And David, who lives in Haddington with wife Zoe, revealed he is to undergo surgery on his left hand as he continues to recover.
Speaking to the Courier on Thursday morning, he confirmed police had visited him earlier in the day.
He said: “They just came to take a formal statement from me and let me know there had not been anything at all.
“Apart from the lovely comments on Facebook, nobody has come forward, there is no more information and everything is just as it was.”
David, who works as a school crossing guide on Haddington’s Station Road, suffered a punctured lung, 19 fractures, a broken collarbone, broken shoulderblade, broken thumb and dislocated thumb.
On addition, he also had numerous road burns to his knees, arms, hands and face.
David said: “I am still in pain and I have got an early appointment at hospital to have surgery on my hand.
“There is something wrong with my thumb where there are bits of bone fragmented and attached themselves to the ligament and stopping my thumb from moving as it should.
“It is causing me great pain and I have got to go to the hand specialist for surgery.
“That will be in the next few weeks.”
David was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh following the incident, which took place near West Bearford.
He spent eight days in hospital and previously told the Courier how he was “still in the most horrendous pain”.
The former firefighter thanked the police for their support and he also praised members of the public for their well wishes following the police appeal.
He said: “So many people, people I did not even know, every comment was supportive.”
