Musselburgh festival week starts on Sunday, July 18 and runs through to Sunday, July 26. The festival promises to be a fun weekend of celebrations.
Organised by the Honest Toun’s Association, the event traces its roots back to 1936 and continues to honour long-standing traditions for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Thousands of people are expected to take part in the packed programme of activities, which will include family events, sporting competitions, live entertainment, community gatherings and the much-loved Festival Day celebrations.
At the heart of the festival are Musselburgh’s Honest Lad and Lass, Alistair Dunn and Isla Stewart. Their role reflects the pride, tradition and strong sense of identity that make Musselburgh such a special place to live.
I am super excited to see all the events scheduled for this year. I know how much this festival means for the community. It is a pleasure to watch the festival grow year on year with residents from Musselburgh and East Lothian coming together to celebrate the town’s rich history while looking forward with confidence to its future.
One of the festival’s greatest strengths is its ability to bring people together.
It provides local businesses, community organisations and volunteers with an opportunity to showcase the work they do throughout the year. People of all ages take part, whether attending events, supporting local groups or simply enjoying the atmosphere. It is a fantastic example of community spirit in action.
Festival Day is expected to provide one of the biggest draws of the week, with family-friendly entertainment, music and activities creating a carnival atmosphere.
As Musselburgh gears up for another memorable summer, the festival stands as a reminder of the traditions, friendships and community spirit that have defined the Honest Toun for nearly 90 years.
