BUDDING photographers are asked to show why they love Tranent by taking snaps on their phones for a newly launched competition.
Entries will be displayed in a public gallery and prizes will be awarded to winners across four age categories.
Residents of the town are encouraged to take up to three pictures showcasing the town's nature - such as a close-up of an insect or a favourite landscape - and submit them to be judged by a panel.
All photos will be displayed electronically at The Fraser Centre, Winton Place, on August 5 as part of the annual Wee Green Festival, with images also printed and displayed within the café space.
Entries should be sent to lovetranent2026@gmail.com with the image(s) alongside the photographer's name, age category and title, as well as an optional caption of 20 to 30 words.
The snaps must be taken in Tranent and can only use a phone as the camera. Only light editing is permitted, such as cropping and adjusting brightness or contrast, and AI-generated images are not allowed.
Identifiable people cannot be included in photos without permission and entrants under the age of 16 must have consent from a parent or guardian.
The age categories are up to seven, eight to 12, 12 to 18, and over 18.
Entries must be submitted by noon on July 31.
