HISTORY has been made as a pipe band closing in on 50 years has played at Edinburgh Castle for the first time.
Haddington Pipe Band impressed those at the iconic building with a performance.
The band has not only played in East Lothian but also in Haddington’s twin town of Aubigny-sur-Nere in France.
Alastair Bruce, from the band, revealed it was the first time that the band had strutted their stuff at the castle, though.
He said: “We have got individuals who have played there.
“We have a couple of folk who play in the Tattoo band and have got others that have done it but the band had never played at Edinburgh Castle.
“It is absolutely thrilling.
“It is such an iconic place and we were playing outdoors and then marched down to the drawbridge and onto the esplanade.
“That was an incredible moment.”
Haddington Pipe Band were asked to perform at the corporate event.
The performance was a rare honour for a non-military band.
Mr Bruce said: “It was a real honour and privilege.
“It was not expected because Edinburgh Castle is a military establishment and, for non-military bands like ourselves to be asked to go and play, that was a bit unexpected.
“It was a real privilege and we enjoyed it.”
