EAST Lothian school pupils are getting ready to celebrate Scotland's World Cup journey on the dance floor.

Pupils at Letham Mains and Ormiston Primary Schools will take part in the nationwide World Cup Day of Dance on Friday.

Led by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) and the Scottish Association of Teachers of Physical Education (SATPE), the event combines Scottish country dancing with football fever in the lead-up to World Cup excitement.

Pupils will perform football-themed dances like the World Cup Wheech, alongside the McTominay Two Step, Robertson Reel and Craig Gordons.

Gary Coull, chair of RSCDS, said: "The World Cup Day of Dance is about using the excitement around Scotland’s World Cup campaign to get young people moving, smiling and celebrating together.

“We hope the campaign gives pupils across East Lothian a memorable way to celebrate Scotland’s World Cup journey while discovering the energy, enjoyment and sense of community that Scottish country dancing can bring.”
