THE number of trains taking people to and from North Berwick and Edinburgh on a Saturday will increase from next weekend.
ScotRail has confirmed details of its timetable changes, which will come into effect from Sunday.
Currently, each Saturday, 20 trains connect the Capital with the East Lothian town, with 22 heading in the opposite direction.
However, that number will soon increase to 27 heading east and an additional two on top of that travelling into the city centre.
The timetable includes service revisions across the network to reflect operational requirements and planned engineering activity, alongside additional and amended services.
Customers will also be able to take advantage of fares being frozen until 2027.
Mark Ilderton, ScotRail service delivery director, said: “We are introducing a number of timetable changes from Sunday, the majority of which are on Saturdays and Sundays to meet the growing demand for leisure travel.
“These additional services will provide customers with more choice and flexibility, helping more people travel by rail for leisure, events and days out.”
Currently, the latest train from the Capital to North Berwick departs at 11.12pm and that will remain the case under the new timetable.
