Search the Public Notice PortalPLANS for a footpath connecting a new housing development with an existing street have been scrapped, after developers and residents failed to reach an agreement.
Bellway Homes Ltd was previously given permission for more than 200 homes on the western edge of Elphinstone.
The housing, made up of 189 houses and a dozen flats, was split over two different planning applications.
The second application was given approval with the condition that a footpath connecting the development to nearby Macfarlane Court was created.
The condition has now been lifted and plans for a footpath have been halted.
A spokesperson for the housebuilder said: “Bellway Homes East Scotland has secured approval from East Lothian Council to vary the existing planning consent at Elphinstone, removing the condition requiring an off-site footpath.
“Despite extensive discussions, it was not possible to reach agreement with neighbouring landowners to secure the rights needed to deliver the footpath, and this was accepted by the council.”
