OMNi Centre Edinburgh relaunch date confirmed after £5m refurbishment

The OMNi Centre is entering the final stages of a major refurbishment project designed to enhance the leisure and entertainment destination. To celebrate the relaunch, the centre will host a public launch event called 'The Big Meet'.

Taking place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, the event will run from 11am to 5pm and is open to all.

Improvements include new flooring throughout the centre, a more visible main entrance, modern LED lighting, upgraded seating areas and extensive internal structural upgrades.

OMNi brand ambassadors will be on hand with complimentary coffees, meals, cinema tickets and more, while visitors can take advantage of the exclusive one-day-only offers.

The refurbishment also marks the beginning of a longer-term programme of events and activities planned for the centre throughout 2026 and beyond.

As part of its community outreach, OMNi has contributed £180,000 over three years to the University of Edinburgh’s Access Edinburgh Scholarship programme.

The funding will support 30 undergraduate students from low-income backgrounds, with each receiving £3,000 per year to help with personal and academic costs.

Neil Mackie, centre manager, said: "OMNi is on a mission to get Edinburgh to meet more and enjoy more.

"With a renewed focus on community and connection, the revitalised OMNi aims to become the go-to spot for affordable fun, and meeting point for everyday moments in Edinburgh, from morning coffees before exploring the city and family meals after a day out.

"We’re excited for everyone to experience the newly refurbished entertainment destination for all."

Located on Greenside Row at the top of Leith Walk, the centre first opened in 2002 and covers 219,727 square feet.

OMNi is open daily from 6am to 1am.
