AN EGG-CITING Easter events programme gets under way on Friday at Archerfield Walled Garden.
Over the next fortnight, the visitor attraction will host ‘Nature Meets Art’ workshops with artist and author Tonia Kay, the Big Easter Bunny Egg Hunt and, back by popular demand, the Wonders of Space Family Festival by Heriot-Watt University.
Elly Douglas-Hamilton, chief executive of Archerfield Estates Limited, said: “We are really excited to be launching such a full programme of events this Easter, from our egg hunt and craft workshops to a scavenger hunt and the return of our Wonders of Space Family Festival – there’s something for kids of all ages!
“If the plan this Easter is to get out into nature and enjoy some quality time together, our gardens and expansive grounds are perfect for exploring and letting imaginations run wild – families are guaranteed to have a fun-filled day out with lots of fresh air and a tasty bite to eat afterwards in our Garden Café.”
The ‘Nature Meets Art’ workshops for children will take place in The Potting Shed in the gardens.
Tonia, who has exhibited around the world, is also the author of GLAD Ralph, a children’s book series that blends whimsical storytelling with spiritual wisdom.
The fun, hands-on sessions, which include plant pot decorating and planting sunflower seeds, combine art and nature to help children explore, learn and make something special to take home.
The Big Easter Bunny Egg Hunt runs from Friday to Sunday, where children will have the chance to find six hidden Easter eggs and receive a prize at the end, and an extra special gift if they find the ‘Golden Egg’.
There will also be guest appearances from the Easter Bunny.
The Wonders of Space Family Festival takes place on April 17 at 10am and 1pm, and is for children of all ages to enjoy lots of hands-on space-themed activities and uncover the science behind the solar system.
Full details of all events, which start from £3 per child, can be found at archerfieldwalledgarden.com
