RADIO 1 presenter Greg James received a warm welcome as he made his way through Musselburgh on the last leg of his cycling challenge in aid of Comic Relief today (Friday).
He received a free ice cream from famous ice cream maker S Luca on High Street and supporters at the town's library caught him on camera as he continued his quest along Bridge Street.
“We’re so pleased we got to see Greg on his journey,” they said on social media.
Greg took on what was described as his “most gruelling and absurd challenge yet”: cycling 1,000km across the UK over eight arduous days . . . on a tandem!
After his 2018 challenge, Greg had said ‘never again’, but he is back pushing himself to the limits for Comic Relief.
This time, he is raising funds for projects that help people eat, sleep and feel safe, offering local, fast support when and where it is needed most.
While Greg is no stranger to Comic Relief challenges, Radio 1’s Longest Ride, it was said, would “throw him truly out of his comfort zone” as he took on the longest challenge and furthest distance ever completed by a Radio 1 challenger.
From his start line in Weymouth on March 13, Greg’s journey took him through Wales, the Midlands and the north of England to his finish line at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Red Nose Day.
Prince William joined Greg north of Doncaster on the tandem ride, cycling through South Yorkshire.
